Review – Manhattan Supper Club
We were pleasantly surprised by our experience at the restaurant. Based on previous reviews, I booked the wine room by using OpenTable.com for our Friday night reservation. A quick tour of the restaurant showed us the various dining rooms as well as the fun looking lounge. After being seated, we ordered the cheese plate and the waiter started opening the wine we brought.
The cheese platter was pleasant, but not top notch. My wife and I ordered the beet salad, and it was wonderful. Finally my wife and I split the 12 oz filet. Not only was it perfectly cooked, well seared on the outside and medium rare on the inside, but the beef was so tasty; one of the best filets that I have ever tasted. We later found out from the owner that the beef is all organic from a rancher in Montana who also grows his own food for the cattle. The blueberry Merlot sauce and blue cheese sauce were excellent condiments for the beef. We finished off our meal with a tasty apple tart.
Service from our waiter Matt was perfectly attentive and he allowed us to enjoy a three hour experience. We always offer to share a taste of our wine to the wait staff or owner and our waiter was thankful for the taste. The owner was gracious enough to give us a tour of their wine cellar and told us several stories about a few of the bottles. I am glad he took the time, but it was an unusually quiet evening. I will chalk that up to a weak economy and a traditionally slow restaurant season (early January).
We enjoyed the experience so much, it creates a requirement to return soon. The bar area looks fun and that might be our next visit at happy hour.
