Replacing the heater with a wine cooler
When we moved the forced air furnace from the old closet to the attic, it created a big whole in the small hallway leading to our dining room. Without hesitation, Annette and I thought it was a perfect place for a wine cooler. It has built in electricity and ventalation and it’s location is easy access to the dining room and kitchen. So we purchased a cooler that holds 166 bottles with two zones so we can properly store whites and reds. With my 100 bottle cooler in the garage, I now can store more wines that can stand some more age rather than drinking them all up as my existing cooler got fool.
So its off to the wine store, to add more to my collection. I will probably have to create an inventory system to determine what I have in stock. At 50 bottles, it was pretty easy. When I reached 100 bottles, it got harder to remember what I had. As I approach 250 bottles, an inventory system is in order. I think I will try VinCellar, an online wine inventory system. It appears to have a clean web 2.0 style interface and I can share tasting notes with other users. I will let you know how it goes after this weekend.

Adrian and I would be more than happy to help you drink all that wine.
A techie solution if there ever was one. Consuming your inventory would reduce both the sofware investment and labor costs of your inventory system.
Placement of the storage system indoors, however, was a bold stroke (probably Annette’s)…reducing both the travel time to retrieve inventory as well as the electricity costs trying to keep some cool in the garage.
