Putting money where my mouth is

Jacaranda tree in bloom in Orange, CA

In my last post, I expressed that planting a home garden will help homeland security.  I thought I would share what we are doing in our own suburban backyard.  Most of the plants are in containers, but more each year are going around our existing landscape.  In the photos, you will see tomatoes including heirloom, all types of peppers, and tomatillos along with fruit trees and herbs.  In starter pots, we have corn and sunflowers.  The sunflowers will act as a temporary screen from our neighbors.  The corn will fill a corner of the backyard that needs some loving.  This type of gardening is easy and fits in well with the standard suburban landscaping.  All I am saying is anyone can do this and have fun doing it.

Bon Appetit!
