Once you go Mac
My blog writings have been a little slow as I have spent more time changing my technology. First as you all know, I moved to my new site from one of those canned blog hosts. Having your own site is not as easy, but overtime it will give me more flexibility. I will spend the next few months building up the recipe page and getting so its easy to add new recipes. I am trying to add a picture library and probably some other cool things. As I investigate the process, hopefully the site will improve. The other technology change I have made is I am now maintaining the web site from my new Mac Book. I was using my work’s laptop to update my old blog, but I thought that was probably not politically correct, so I wanted to get my own lap top to use for my personal computer activities. Knowing that I would be using it for updating blogs, syncing my ipod, updating the genealogy site, managing my pictures and occasionally I figured a Mac was a more appropriate choice. Switching from Windows to a Mac has not been easy. Things are done a little differently. There is no right click. Program options are not in the options section but are under preferences. Tabs in the web browser behave differently, and there are other subtle differences. But I am slowly getting the hang of it. I have decided not to load any word processing or spreadsheet programs and I will use Google Apps online if I need those. Even with these differences, things seem to be getting easier, so as they say once you go Mac you never go back.
