Erin Go Bragh
We held our second annual St. Patty’s day party on Saturday. The first annual consisted of a total of 6 people and a six pack of Guinness. The party expanded this year to a total of 14, so the third annual could be a whopping 28. This year extravaganza included traditional Irish fare including split pea soup, corned beef and cabbage with potatoes, and finished up with Irish coffee and Oatmeal cake. I took the Irish coffee recipe from the Buena Vista in San Francisco and the oatmeal cake was my grandmother’s recipe, but I did add caramel icing to add a little sweetness. Vegetables were the pre-meal fare with of course Irish beer to wash everything down. I even bought some mead, some honey wine from the British Isles, but know one had the courage to open it up and try.
My other ode to Ireland was I bought a dart board and set it up in the garage, but no one played. Oh well, just more to advertise for next year’s blowout.
