April Showers in the Rose City

I spent a few days in Oregon visiting a few of my remote employees and took advantage of the trip and my wife flew up on Friday and we enjoyed a lovely weekend in northern Oregon. After picking her up at the airport we drove to the Pearl District and had a wonderful dinner at Giorgios. The dinner was topped off with a cheese plate with a great cheese that I have never tried called robiola. It is a soft cheese usually made of cow, sheep and goat milk. A great breakfast at Mothers got Saturday started on a great note.

We headed south on Highway 99W to take a leisurely drive to Eugene. We stopped at several wineries in the Dundee Hills area. Two wineries were nice, Lange and Erath. I would be happy to serve or drink their wines. A third winery Adelsheim Vineyards, made us very happy. They have a line of good wines that are generally available and another line that is only available at the winery or through their club. We decided to take advantage of both. The rest of the day was spent dodging showers on our drive to Eugene.

A lovely dinner in Eugene and an evening at the Holiday Inn Express made the weekend complete. The room at the Inn, ended up being a suite with a flat screen TV, a living room and a jacuzzi tub. On Sunday, we tried to find the tulip festival in Woodburn, but poor maps, poor signage and an earlier flight than we expected, forced us to miss the flowers. Over two days, we dodged rain, saw some sun, and experienced Oregon during the spring. The rain didn’t stop us enjoying some finer things the state offers.
